The Edison Electric Institute has more than seventy international electric companies as members of International Programs, with operations in more than ninety countries. They are presided over by the charismatic Lawrence Jones, SVP for International programs at EEI, who is a thought leader and practitioner with over twenty-five years of experience in the energy industry.

Recently, Jones was inducted into the prestigious Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) an independent academy that promotes engineering and economic sciences and the advancement of business and industry for the benefit of society. Founded over one hundred years ago, IVA is the world's oldest academy of engineering sciences.

The induction ceremony was a kind of homecoming for Jones, who received his MSc, Licentiate, and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. Yes, among his many accomplishments, he speaks Swedish too.
