Public Utilities Fortnightly has been publishing a popular series of conversations with Commission Chairs, which started in 2025. This is continuing throughout 2026 and providing insights into the latest developments in the states.

The discussions also provide an understanding of which issues are similar and which are different among the states. Load growth from data centers and artificial intelligence as well as affordability are front and center, but state legislation, policy, and goals affect them all.

In this issue, PUF’s Paul Kjellander, former NARUC President, takes on tough subjects with Kentucky Chair Angie Hatton. The series so far in 2026 has featured the following Commission Chairs: Michigan’s Dan ScrippsOklahoma’s Kim David, Washington’s Brian Rybarik, and Wisconsin’s Summer Strand.
