State Regulators
Public Utilities Fortnightly has been publishing a popular series of conversations with Commission Chairs, which started in 2025. This will be continuing throughout the year, providing insights into the latest developments in the states.
The discussions also provide understanding of which issues are similar and which are different among the states. Load growth from data centers and artificial intelligence as well as affordability are front and center, but state legislation, policy, and goals affect them all.
The series so far has featured the following Commission Chairs: Arizona’s Kevin Thompson, District of Columbia’s Emile Thompson, New Mexico’s Gabriel Aguilera, Oklahoma’s Kim David, Oregon’s Letha Tawney, Pennsylvania’s Steve DeFrank, West Virginia’s Charlotte Lane, and Wisconsin’s Summer Strand.
In this issue, PUF’s Paul Kjellander, former NARUC President, takes on tough subjects with Washington Chair Brian Rybarik and Michigan Chair Dan Scripps.
