Electricity Diplomacy
Lawrence Jones is Senior Vice President of EEI International Programs.
As we begin 2025, EEI International Programs remains consistent in our mission to: foster collaboration, accelerate knowledge sharing, and champion electricity diplomacy to shape a resilient and equitable global energy future.
We invite you to engage in our programs and initiatives throughout this year that are tailored to the critical issues we face as an industry.
A Year of Headwinds and Tailwinds
We cannot predict the world’s geopolitical and geoeconomic landscape a year from now, but stakeholders across regions must be prepared for new shifts. More than seventy countries and territories held national elections in 2024, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, India, Indonesia, and Mexico. In many of these countries, new leaders are assessing existing national policies and international commitments.
Though we cannot predict how global energy policies will evolve, collaborating with global partners and developing a system view of shifting energy trends will be critical in 2025 and beyond. In a world where our challenges seem increasingly complex, our solutions must be increasingly creative.
This is true whether in electricity diplomacy or in engineering the clean energy technologies we need for more sustainable futures. The electric power sector faces unprecedented challenges, though each challenge brings new opportunities.
