Show Me

The Stars of Energy Efficiency Awards Gala is always a stylish affair. And this year the host, the Alliance to Save Energy, held it at the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C.

The individual awards went to Southern Company’s CEO Chris Womack, New Mexico’s Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Cabinet Secretary Melanie Kenderdine, Dentons’ Chair-US Energy Practice Clint Vince, and P-TECH OHM’s STEM Integration Specialist and Lead Instructor Tiffany Piatkowski.

Pacific Gas and Electric won the Power and Utilities Star of Energy Efficiency Award, and Evergy won the Community Engagement and Education Star of Energy Efficiency Award, among the corporate honors.

PG&E was recognized for its Continuous Energy Feedback Program. It uses multiple behavior-based energy efficiency strategies to enable customers to lower electric and gas consumption.

Evergy was recognized for offering customers several flexible time-of-use rate plans. Oracle Opower pitched in with a multi-channel and multi-tool education campaign – from billboards to radio to church bulletins to handed-out flyers – to help customers choose the best plan for them.

A remarkable thirty percent of residential customers in Missouri enrolled in a time-based plan. And more than ninety percent said they heard about the alternative plans and most of them understood the nuances of the options.

At the International Spy Museum that evening, it was appreciated by all that TOU was by no means an undercover operation in Missouri. Which is after all, the Show Me State.
