Already there are twelve hundred and forty-four registered for the NARUC Winter Policy Summit. There's now a week and a half to go, until February tenth, when one of the top utility regulation and policy events of the year opens in the nation's capital.
There's still time to register.
Of the two hundred and one Commissioners at the states and D.C., a hundred and twenty-five are registered thus far. That's sixty-two percent of all the Commissioners.
And, including Commissioners and Staff, there are nearly three hundred registrants from all fifty states and D.C. As usual, Pennsylvania leads with thirty-three signed up to attend, with D.C. and Maryland right behind. Other state commissions in double digits are Arizona, Ohio, Arkansas and Michigan. North Carolina and Florida are just about there, with nine each.
This year, the Winter Meeting is perfectly timed. The first big day, Monday February eleventh, is Thomas Edison's birthday. Public Utilities Fortnightly has a special celebration planned.
And, unlike past years, the Winter Meeting will be done before Valentine's Day, thankfully.
If you're into utility regulation and policy, how can you not be there in beautiful Washington D.C. in mid-February? At least you know the Federal Government will be hard at work there; the possible next furlough isn't until the fifteenth, when attendees will have returned home to work on the latest open dockets, filings, interrogatories, etc.
