September's PUF will be available later this week. Here is an excerpt from FERC Commissioner James Danly to whet the appetite:
"... any further increase in the overall proportion of weather-dependent generation versus dispatchables is going to put more pressure on the natural gas pipeline system. It's going to get worse. You can see that with the most cursory glance at the markets' interconnection queues.
It appears that in most markets, the total quantity of nameplate capacity will increase over time and that increase is overwhelmingly from intermittent resources. Yet the total amount of dispatchable capacity is dropping. Those dispatchable resources that remain will become increasingly critical, as will be their inputs."
