Tampa Electric Awarded EEI’s 2015 Edison Award
Submitted by aburr on Sun, 2015-06-21 16:46Tampa Electric received the Edison Electric Institute's (EEI's) 2015 Edison Award, the electric power industry's highest honor, for its design and construction of a reclaimed water system at its Polk Power Station in Polk County, Florida. Tampa Electric designed and built a reclaimed water-treatment project that offers environmental benefits to Hillsborough and Tampa bays.
Duke Energy Buys 7.5% of Previously Announced Sabal Trail Pipeline
Submitted by aburr on Thu, 2015-05-14 13:39Duke Energy bought a 7.5-percent ownership stake in the proposed and previously announced $3-billion Sabal Trail natural gas pipeline that will traverse Alabama, Georgia and Florida to meet the growing need for natural gas in those states. Duke Energy's commercial power business unit will invest approximately $225 million in the approximately 500-mile underground pipeline - from Tallapoosa County, Ala., to Osceola County, Fla. - during the next seven years. The pipeline, scheduled to begin service in 2017, requires federal and other regulatory approvals.
