Regulatory Decisions

Rate Case Roundup: California

Pursuant to an unopposed settlement agreement, the California Public Service Commission permitted a water utility to raise its rates and charges for customers in two of its service divisions. The utility, San Gabriel Valley Water Company, had submitted a three-year rate plan for both its Los Angeles and Fontana districts.

Rate Case Roundup: North Dakota

The North Dakota Public Service Commission granted an electric utility, Montana-Dakota Utilities Company (MDU), only about 55% of its request for rate relief. Thus, rather than the $13.4 million in additional revenues sought, the utility was allowed to raise its rates by only $7.5 million.

New York: Competitive Energy Suppliers

The New York Public Service Commission denied an energy service company (ESCO) trade group's request to delay or curtail the scope of an ongoing investigation into the pricing of ESCO supply services provided to commercial and industrial (C&I) customers and associated ESCO profitability.
