The integration of IT/OT is now a reality for the energy and utilities industry under the umbrella of grid orchestration. It's a complicated necessity in the drive toward the energy transition, which is happening at a fast pace.

GE Vernova is using grid orchestration to conquer the challenges of the future grid's ability to manage distributed energy, climate impacts, bidirectional flows, and more. The company has been moving in that direction over the past few years with acquisitions and the launching in 2023 of GridOS, the world's first grid orchestration software.

There is much to learn about this, as the need for orchestration is growing as utilities move along in the journey toward decarbonization. To bring you up to date, Public Utilities Fortnightly went to the expert, Mahesh Sudhakaran, GE Vernova General Manager-Grid Software.
