Fortnightly Magazine - July 2023

Ninety years ago, on January 12, 1933, the Edison Electric Institute was founded. George Cortelyou, President of the Consolidated Gas Company of New York (now known as Con Ed), presided over EEI's first annual convention, which commenced on June 7, 1933, in Chicago, and gave the keynote address. Cortelyou, who was seventy years old at the first convention, had previously served the nation as Secretary of the Treasury, Secretary of Commerce and Labor, and Postmaster General, under United States President Theodore Roosevelt.

Fast forward to today. This year's convention commenced on June 11, 2023, in Austin. Warner Baxter and Tom Kuhn presided over the gathering as Chair and President of EEI, respectively, almost a quarter of the way through the twenty-first century. Jam-packed with sessions on the continuing mission and contemporary challenges of the electric industry, in these photos you get a glimpse of the proceedings in Austin.
