The Edison Electric Institute's 7th Annual Global Electrification Forum (GEF) was held April 17 - 21 with the theme of Power, Climate, Action: Energizing 8 Billion Lives and More. The gigantic event was online all week with in-person sessions held in Washington, D.C. on the first two days.
The conference was truly global, as experts from all over the world discussed how to achieve electrification. Panels, discussions, chats, and sessions on the transition considered technologies, innovations, systems, and infrastructure, as well as human elements and trends.
The GEF was opened on day one by EEI President Tom Kuhn and EEI SVP for International Programs Lawrence Jones and closed by them on day five. In between, power sector CEOs and executives from many nations explored how to provide affordable, reliable, resilient clean energy in a world faced with geopolitical shifts, natural disasters, and climate change. Public Utilities Fortnightly was there too and brings you here excerpts of GEF 2023.
