The National Association of State Energy Officials is the only national non-profit association for governor-designated energy officials from each of the fifty-six states and territories. State Energy Officials manage the U.S. State Energy Program or SEP, the only program administered by U.S. DOE that provides cost-shared resources directly to states for allocation by the State Energy Office for use in energy innovation, development, and demonstration activities.

The State Energy Officials have an important job and continue serving as a resource for economic development and funding. But with more funding coming to the states as the energy and utilities industry transitions to a cleaner, decarbonized one, these busy executives will have even more work to do. 

Public Utilities Fortnightly reached out to NASEO Executive Director David Terry, who tied together how State Energy Officials work together with others in the energy policy, regulatory, and legislative arenas. It will take combined efforts to usher in a new era, so listen in.
 

PUF's Paul Kjellander: The states will have much autonomy with the U.S. State Energy Program funding that will be increasing over the next few years. But the key is going to be collaboration and planning that needs to happen now.
