The American Association of Blacks in Energy held its Fall Policy Summit 2021: Promoting and Advancing Communities of Color Through Inclusive Energy Policy, October 19-20, 2021. The PUF team was there at this virtual event with its outstanding line-up of speakers and panelists.
The Congressional Keynote was given by U.S. Rep. Yvette Clarke, who hails from central Brooklyn, the community where she grew up. Representative Clarke is Chair of the Homeland Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Innovation subcommittee, under the jurisdiction of the House Committee on Homeland Security. She is a senior member of the Energy and Commerce Committee. She has been a member of the Congressional Black Caucus since coming to Congress in 2007 and now Chairs its Immigration Task Force. U.S. Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-N.Y. 9th Dist.): I have the honor in this Congress of serving as chair of the Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Innovation subcommittee on our Homeland Security Committee.
As chair of this important subcommittee, I can tell you that safeguarding our critical infrastructure against malicious actors, particularly on our nation's energy infrastructure, is a top priority. That's especially so given the recent ransomware attack against Colonial Pipeline, as well as the other attacks we have witnessed take place against various U.S. companies.
