Dean Moos is the Director of Reclamation and Abandoned Mine Lands Division of the North Dakota Public Service Commission.
The small but mighty North Dakota Public Service Commission handles a lot in this vast agricultural and ranching state. North Dakota PSC is also in charge of weights and measures, protecting consumers by making sure they get what they pay for.
PUF: How did your background lead to your position as the Director of Reclamation and Abandoned Mine Lands Division at the Commission?
Dean Moos: I've been here about thirty-three years. I started as an environmental scientist with an emphasis on soils. In 2006 I became the assistant director and then in 2016, the director.
PUF: Talk about what your unique position entails and what you do.
Dean Moos: I manage two divisions, the Reclamation and Abandoned Mine Land Divisions.
