Lead, Integrated Energy Systems, Idaho National Laboratory, Shannon Bragg-Sitton: Traditionally, electricity generation and management, then meeting energy demands for industry and transportation, are considered independently. As we seek to achieve net zero, we need to pause to reassess our energy demands.
When we consider overall energy use, we find only a third of it is in the form of electricity use. If we only focus on the electric sector in our initial solutions to meet these goals, we might be limiting our view of possible solutions.
