All of us are customers, yet never before has so much attention been paid to electricity by residential consumers. Customers expect there to be an app for that and want to know where their energy is sourced from. It is because of these high expectations that positions at energy utilities with titles involving customer solutions are increasingly important.

No longer relegated to merely paying an electric bill once a month, consumers are making noise and expect to be heard. The energy and utilities industry is listening and responding. Residential customers have come a long way, and so have commercial and industrial customers in their energy journeys.

Enter Emmett Romine, Xcel Energy's VP for customer solutions and innovation, who is on the energy journey with customers. You will hear him discuss the latest in consumer innovations, as knowing what they want and giving it to them, requires a certain passion for the job.
 

PUF's Steve Mitnick: What is your role at Xcel Energy in strengthening the relationship with its customers?

Emmett Romine: I'm the vice president of customer solutions and innovation. My role is to lead customer strategy, develop products and services, and commercialize new services to support customers in the use of our core product, which is energy.
