The American Association of Blacks in Energy held its 44th National Conference streaming live at the end of May. During the three-day conference, the Association hosted more than five hundred energy industry and community leaders.

Women increasingly are in leadership positions. If you talk to these women, you find that path quite often was strewn with difficulties to overcome. In this panel, moderated by former AABE CEO Paula Glover, now President of the Alliance to Save Energy, you will hear fascinating stories from women on their rise to the top. Moderator and President, Alliance to Save Energy, Paula Glover: This year, this March for International Women's Day, the theme was, Choose to Challenge. Tell us about a time that either you had to choose to challenge and or someone chose to challenge for you.

CEO, Interstate Natural Gas Assoc­iation of America, Amy Andryszak: I've only been in INGAA for about eight months. I'm one of those crazy people who decided to take on a new job and a new challenge in the middle of the pandemic.

I want to answer Paula's question about choosing to challenge. When she raised this, my first thought was, what was my moment? Did I have this great moment where I beat back the patriarchy?
