EPRI's Electrification 2021 Virtual Forum Series event Frontiers of e-Mobility featured comprehensive collaboration and informative exchanges to enable progress on efficient, equitable, electric transportation solutions.

Calling it not a fleeting revolution, startups on this panel discussed the electrification of big rigs that is on the way. Managing large fleets of big electric vehicles will require shifts in many ways and use of special tools. Listen in as startups in this space discussed what is coming.

Moderator and SVP of Unlocking Innovation, L.A. Cleantech Incubator, Alex Mitchell: LACI's priorities include zero emissions mobility. On the medium duty trucking side, we have financed and implemented the nation's first voluntary zero emissions delivery zone. 

Imagine a zone in Santa Monica where medium duty box trucks from parcel companies are given priority access to the curb in exchange for being zero emissions. That's a first in nation pilot that we hope to bring to other cities. We're intrigued by how important it is to help decarbonize heavy duty trucking. It's a thorny issue.

Medium duty trucks are technically class four to six trucks but think of them as the brown delivery trucks that UPS uses to get goods to your home. A heavy-duty truck technically is called a class seven or eight truck. Think of the Peterbilt semi-truck that's going down the highway. That's a heavy-duty truck versus a medium-duty truck.
