PUF's Steve Mitnick: How does your company view the electric industry's transformation, with decarbonization, electrification, and digitization, and what is your strategy to succeed in doing that?

Jeff Guldner: The electric industry has done more in decarbonization than any other industry in the country. In many cases, it was without direct federal policies prescribing it. That's going to continue to accelerate, particularly as you see the concern around the pandemic that we're all dealing with right now. It's comparing a slow burn, with a quick burn.

We went into the pandemic quickly, and then had to react to it. When you think of big global challenges, pandemics and global health are certainly issues we are facing, and they're going to have a lot of ripple effects. But we're all still dealing with this urgent desire, urgent need, to continue to work hard on decarbonizing.

How can our industry catalyze that best? It will require actions like electrification and replacing the generation resources. Also, engaging consumers in solutions.

In this advanced energy economy, we have so many touch points into the solutions, that the industry's role in this is critical. What's less appreciated, is that we see customers' desires change in their energy footprint.
