PUF's Steve Mitnick: This MEDSIS Initiative of the D.C. Public Service Commission. What's your view of the process, and what are its objectives?

Nina Dodge: In the MEDSIS proceeding, I represent D.C. Climate Action, which is a local District of Columbia civic group.

We intervene in District of Columbia regulatory proceedings bringing climate issues to the fore in electricity and gas cases. And calling for a planned approach to modernizing distribution systems to support sustainability goals of the District, including resiliency, the use of clean energy along with reducing energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.

We had a role in the genesis of the MEDSIS proceeding, which you know stands for Modernizing the Energy Delivery System for Increased Sustainability. And we have been active in it since it began four years ago.

We see MEDSIS's objective as bringing our energy distribution systems in line with new societal needs around global warming, using new technologies available. MEDSIS goals have evolved over the years that the proceeding has been in place and will continue to evolve.
