PUF: What's your typical day like?

Brett Hauser: I don't know if there is a typical day. We're building a new industry, and we're making new markets. One of the exciting things about our business is that not one day looks like the last one.

PUF: How did your company get started?

Brett Hauser: The company was founded in Singapore in 2008.  At that time, we not only had our network back office solution, but we were also making smart connected level two charging stations because the major power equipment manufacturers were only making "dumb" non-connected chargers. In 2012, when the company moved its headquarters to the United States, the major power equipment manufacturers were starting to come into the market with smart charging stations.

We saw an opportunity to focus where we could create the most value - software - and leverage other companies' charging stations. We were able to make that transition somewhat seamlessly, because even when we had our own charging stations, we were using open standards to communicate (OCPP) from our network back office to the charging stations. We remain hardware agnostic today.
