PUF: How did your background lead to your position as a Commissioner?

Commissioner Echols: When I was seventeen years old I was the Atlanta Airport Rotary Club student of the year. After our meeting, I met Truett Cathy who was the founder and president of Chick-fil-A. He was a member of the Rotary Club and invited me to his office.

He told me that I could own a Chick-fil-A store one day if I would go to college, get a four-year degree, and continue down my leadership path.

In the meantime, he had given me some tapes to listen to that were made by motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar. Zig said, you can get everything you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.

I adopted that as my life purpose and began to serve more people in high school and in college as I went off to the University of Georgia.
