The States
The energy transition has brought with it the need for lots of innovation. Utility and tech companies are responding and moving forward at breakneck speed to answer the demands brought by load growth, need for greater efficiency, weather and wildfire disruptions, and much more.
An important component of this are the regulators who are watching carefully and thinking about how best to balance competing interests to ensure a healthy energy system that works in the public interest. Commissioners are increasingly focused on innovation to enhance utility operations and service delivery while keeping it all affordable.
PUF’s Senior Advisor Paul Kjellander talked with three Commissioners to get their views on how innovation can improve utility operations, while helping to reduce costs and enhance service reliability. It includes the need to adapt regulatory frameworks to encourage innovation. Enjoy this look at innovation with Arizona Commissioner Lea Márquez Peterson, Iowa Commissioner Erik Helland, and North Carolina Commissioner Floyd McKissick.
