Seattle City Light won the Fortnightly Top Innovator 2025 award ''Francis Upton Top Innovator in Analytics for Utility Service'' for its Data-Driven, AI-Powered Vegetation Management Strategy.

 

PUF's Lori Burkhart: Describe the innovation and its positive impact.

Anabel Roza: We're using LiDAR and satellite imagery across our transmission system and vegetation program, and we are trying to combine that with AI insights, and descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics.

We partnered with GeoDigital and utilize their WorkStudio platform, which integrates with our GIS data and other systems. The platform has an AI feature that analyzes LiDAR and imagery to flag tree health and fall-in risk.
