The year flew by after NARUC’s Annual Meeting and Education Conference was held in Anaheim, California. It was at that 2024 meeting when the top job at NARUC was handed over to Georgia Commissioner Tricia Pridemore by then-NARUC President Julie Fedorchak of North Dakota.

NARUC President Tricia Pridemore governed over NARUC in 2025 with the theme, “Let There Be Light.” Here, she discussed highlights of the past year including accomplishments, of which there are many, and the thinking behind that inspirational theme.

There were a lot of changes in 2025 at NARUC as it marked the start of the Tony Clark era as he took over as Executive Director from Greg White, and Michelle Malloy also retired with Tina Schneider taking over conferences. Pridemore presided over it all with enthusiasm and explained how the year went to PUF’s Paul Kjellander, also a former NARUC President.

 

PUF’s Paul Kjellander: “Let There Be Light” was your theme as NARUC President. How did that theme help guide your year?

Commissioner Tricia Pridemore: I chose “Let There Be Light” as my theme because I knew that this was going to be a busy and transformative year for NARUC. I focused a great deal on ways state utility Commissioners can address the increased demand, particularly in the electric and gas power sectors.
