Natural gas is becoming increasingly important on the national stage as energy demand is growing across the United States. The nation also is engaged in an energy transition and so it is even more important to talk about what that means for the future of natural gas.

This conversation, Snapshot of Reliability: A National Update on Natural Gas, took place between Pennsylvania Chair and moderator Steve DeFrank and NiSource CEO and AGA Board Chair LLoyd Yates at NARUC's 2025 Winter Policy Summit.

 

Pennsylvania Chair and moderator Steve DeFrank: What are your efforts in terms of trying to lower emissions?

NiSource CEO and AGA Board Chair Lloyd Yates: We're in the middle of a lot of innovation. For the hydrogen blending facility we built in Pennsylvania, we built a small house with a barbecue grill, a fireplace, and a gas oven, and we've been blending hydrogen trying to understand the characteristics that hydrogen would have on our customers' appliances.
