Connecting Interdependent Energy Futures
Lawrence Jones is Senior Vice President of EEI International Programs.
The international energy landscape is constantly evolving. Electricity demand is rising across the globe, driven by urbanization and the growing digitalization and electrification of economies. The electric power industry also continues to face supply chain uncertainties, shifting investment flows, and regional inequalities in energy access and development.

As we navigate these changes, collaboration has never been more critical. From May 5-9, EEI International Programs will host the ninth annual Global Electrification Forum (GEF), where the world’s leading electric company executives and thought leaders will gather to further the conversation on sustainable energy transitions and universal access to electricity.
This year’s theme, Connecting Interdependent Energy Futures, highlights that while the pace of energy transitions varies across regions, no country can achieve its goals alone. There will always be more to learn about each nation’s unique experiences.
Regional energy transitions and each of our energy futures are interdependent; to achieve resilient, sustainable, and equitable energy futures for all, we must move forward together as a global community.
