Top Innovators
Public Utilities Fortnightly highlights and celebrates each year the innovators at utilities and what they created. In 2024, the awards were given out in October in Washington, D.C. and the majority of the conversations with these tenacious teams were featured in the October issue. Here, PUF brings the remaining four winners of the innovator awards: teams from Ameren, Entergy with Enchanted Rock, Ontario Power Generation, and PG&E. There is much to take in, learn from, and perhaps emulate.
PUF's Steve Mitnick: What are your roles at Ontario Power Generation (OPG)?
Kelly Reid: I manage quality engineering and strategy. I oversee OPG's research and development portfolio, enterprise engineering risk, and continuous improvement of engineering staff. Another part of my team supports the engineers working on the Darlington Nuclear Refurbishment Project.
Adi Walke: I work with Kelly in quality engineering and strategy and have been with the company for over fifteen years. I started working in nuclear safety, refurbishment projects, and operations. I also worked on the small modular reactor project for some time.
In quality engineering and strategy, I support R&D along with climate change adaptation and resiliencies for OPG's operating nuclear plants, where Kelly provides the strategic vision, and I ensure all stakeholder requirements and expectations are met.
