In September, AEIC held its 140th Annual Meeting at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. Under this year’s theme, Champions For Change, we heard from top leaders in our industry, discussing the challenges and opportunities we’re facing as we head into the last half of this decade and beyond.

Of course, our industry is very familiar with change. Each decade since AEIC’s founding in 1885 has presented new and more difficult challenges. Along the way, AEIC has grown and evolved to encompass a majority of the electric industry in North America. We now have nearly two hundred member utilities with a reach to hundreds of other distribution utilities that we collectively serve.

This year’s annual meeting was not only a unique forum for robust exchange of ideas and insights with one another, it was also a celebration of the exceptional level of commitment and the high quality of collective effort of our members and industry partners.

Unprecedented growth in customer demands, the emphasis on cleaner and more diverse power generation, and the increasing wrath of Mother Nature due to extreme climate change were just a few of the leading topics on our agenda.
