Bill Tinsley: Cole came to me in 2021, with a project to figure out how we could replace voltage controls at one of our wholesale facilities. My background is excitation and voltage regulation for conventional generation. So, that was right up my alley.
I recommended we use the same voltage regulation loops at renewable sites that we use in conventional generation. We mainly looked at how to deal with multiple generating units on a common bus connected to a generator step-up transformer (GSU) because in that situation you've got multiple voltage regulators on the same node, and that's a problem. How do we deal with that?
