GTI Energy recently released a Meta-Analysis of U.S. Economy-Wide Decarbonization Studies for Net-Zero Energy Systems, referred to as Meta NZ. It's important — as EPRI and GTI Energy created the Low-Carbon Resources Initiative (LCRI) to together address the need to accelerate development and demonstration of low- and zero-carbon energy technologies required for deep decarbonization.

Meta NZ provides a comparative analysis of five U.S. economy-wide net-zero studies developed by LCRI, Open Energy Outlook, Evolved Energy Research, Princeton University, and Decarb America. It enables like-for-like comparisons among different studies and scenarios.

Public Utilities Fortnightly brought together two experts who worked on Meta NZ to discuss its perspectives and analytical frameworks for offering a comprehensive look at designs for net-zero energy systems. Author and GTI Energy's Derek Wissmiller was joined by Evolved Energy Research's Ryan Jones to review the collaborative effort.

PUF's Steve Mitnick: What led GTI Energy to pursue this meta-analysis of the decarbonization studies? Why is it important for you to understand and communicate the net-zero studies?
