This panel at CAMPUT 2024 on Building and Maintaining Trust: The Art and Craft of Today's Communication, examined how in today's energy sector dynamic landscape, effective communication is key to building and maintaining trust. Public trust drives participation in regulatory processes and enhances credibility. This session delved into innovative strategies and platforms.

Included were NARUC President and North Dakota Commissioner Julie Fedorchak, Canada Energy Regulator EVP Strategic Engagement Genevieve Carr, Alberta Utilities Commission Executive Director, External Affairs Riley Georgsen, and Public Interest Law Centre Director Byron Williams.

 

Moderator and NARUC President Julie Fedorchak: I came to my work at the Utility Commission with a journalism background. I came from the communication side and have spent a lot of time thinking intentionally about how we can communicate better to the partners, various stakeholders, folks who are impacted by, and participating in, the work we do.

In today's environment, there are sweeping technological changes happening across the board in our industry. There are a lot of major policy drivers that impact on our work. There are massive infrastructure requirements being imagined and developed that intersect with the various communities we work with. There are reliability, workforce, and supply chain challenges.
