Achieving Net Zero
Sean Bushart is Director of R&D at EPRI and World Economic Forum Project Fellow.
In the worldwide effort to reach economy-wide net zero, countries and companies are coming together to increase the pace and scale of regional decarbonization strategies. Countries will only be successful in collectively reaching clean energy goals if cross-sector collaboration remains on the table.
With almost eighty percent of the global economy now committed to net-zero emissions, there is an urgent need for action to deliver on those ambitious commitments. Despite widespread commitment, major governments and companies also struggle with how to cost-effectively meet planned targets.
Achieving net-zero emissions on a global scale cannot be achieved with a single technological breakthrough or approach. It will require broad collaboration across sectors worldwide. Net-zero industrial clusters or NZICs can play a key role in this effort.
