The 2023 Conference on Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Latin America, sponsored by IEEE Power & Energy Society, took place in San Juan, Puerto Rico on the sixth to the ninth of November. The theme was: disaster recovery and network transformation in times of climate change.

The conference included plenary sessions, panel discussions, and forums on engineering a more resilient path forward. The week was spent navigating the top tools, training, and modeling used to enable increased resilience and generation planning, how emerging technologies can advance the climate change fight, and how the rest of the world can learn from these lessons as climate change fuels the growing effects of increasingly extreme weather.  Puerto Rico's unique experience with disaster preparedness and recovery in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria was a notable topic of discussion for the convening engineering and climate change experts.
