EV Adoption
Britt Reichborn-Kjennerud is Director of E-Mobility at Con Edison.
The Public Utilities Fortnightly team asked the same five broad questions of eighteen experts from twelve utilities. We found it so interesting to compare these dozen discussions, the commonalities, and the differences too. Read on to see what's up with EVs at Arizona Public Service, Avangrid, CMS Energy, Commonwealth Edison, Con Edison, Duquesne Light, Idaho Power, National Grid, NiSource, Portland General Electric, Puget Sound Energy, and Southern Company.
And we wish to express PUF's gratitude to Bidgely, the energy intelligence and EV solutions company, that sponsored this special feature, and made it possible for us to bring it to you.
PUF's Steve Mitnick: What are the goals of Con Edison's electric vehicle program?
Britt Reichborn-Kjennerud: Ultimately, we want to support widespread electric vehicle charging buildout to all communities to enable broad EV adoption, and to encourage grid beneficial charging behavior by our customers. Our goals are aligned with the State goals, and with New York City, and we lay out specific goals in our Clean Energy Commitment.
We also have a focus on equity, which is part of the State goals. In New York State, we have the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, which sets requirements around greenhouse gas reductions and bringing clean energy benefits to disadvantaged communities.
