When you want something done, ask a busy person to do it. That saying is apropos for Commissioners Ann Rendahl, Carrie Zalewski, and Eric Skrmetta, who all have much going on in their leadership roles.

Illinois CC Chair Carrie Zalewski is stepping down, having led a Commission that met all statutory deadlines in the first two years of that state's Climate and Equitable Jobs Act. Former NARUC President and Idaho Chair Paul Kjellander spoke with Zalewski about what is unique.

 

PUF's Paul Kjellander: Your term as Chair of the Illinois Commerce Commission is ending. When you started four years ago, the future of the grid in Illinois was a high priority for you. How do you think Illinois' grid has changed in those four years?

Chair Carrie Zalewski: When I stepped into this role four years ago, I remember acknowledging that regulatory lag is a reality and regulatory lag is there for a good reason. There is a process and lots of engagement involved to get any sort of change in regulation and policy.
