Ameren Executive Chair Warner Baxter completes his term as EEI’s Chair and hands off the reins to Edison International CEO Pedro Pizarro.
The Edison Electric Institute annual convention featured many big names, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and Deion Sanders to name a few. Though for the nearly thousand attendees, the premier session of the convention was the CEO Roundtable. Moderated by Duke Energy CEO Lynn Good, the panel included Ameren Executive Chair Warner Baxter, Edison International CEO Pedro Pizarro, and Portland General Electric CEO Maria Pope. Baxter was finishing up his term as EEI's Chair and handing off the reins to Pizarro. Pope takes on the role for the next twelve months as EEI Vice Chair.
The Public Utilities Fortnightly team found these excerpts from Warner Baxter of particular interest to the PUF community.
"We changed our mindset. Really. And it wasn't just over the last twelve months. We changed our mindset, and we chose to be a force. And that, what we were for, was to be as clean as we can, as fast as we can. To making sure we do not compromise, along the way, reliability, and affordability.
And so, as we thought about that, we had that as part of our lens, as we looked through all these [federal clean energy] policies. But I think, most important, what we did was that we reached out to many of you, the stakeholders, to find solutions together.
