With so much focus on the electric grid these days and what it can or can't handle during the energy transition, innovation stands front and center as one of the ways to capture efficiencies. That's why a company with an eye on helping electric utilities understand the impact of electric vehicles on the grid in their service territories matters a lot.

1898 & Co., a part of Burns & McDonnell, handles distribution planning and engineering of all upgrades needed by utility companies for the coming EV revolution. They have figured out an entire EV charging ecosystem around the best way to move forward for utilities that want to get ahead of this coming movement.

In a conversation with 1898 & Co.'s Rajiv Singhal and Josh Loyd, Public Utilities Fortnightly discussed the needed interoperability around EVs and much more in this future system. There is a lot to unpack here.

PUF's Steve Mitnick: Talk about which area you are focusing on in electric vehicle charging that's distinct.
