Houston was the gathering place for leading energy, industrial, and government executives in mid-November for Reuter's Energy Transition North America. Key industry changemakers met and strategized the path to decarbonization and how to deliver net zero. Public Utilities Fortnightly was at the conference and talked with key changemakers on these important issues and more.
PUF's Steve Mitnick: You were heading up innovation at Exelon, but now you're at the California Resources Corporation. What is that?
Chris Gould: California Resources Corporation is an oil and gas producer in the state of California. It is participating in leading the energy transition by repurposing its depleting oil and gas reservoirs that it previously provided the oil and gas from, into carbon capture and sequestration storage reservoirs. So, that's essentially putting carbon dioxide underground, rather than taking it out of the ground and permanently sequestering it, so it's not in the atmosphere.
PUF: We've heard about carbon sequestration for a long time. On the projects you're talking about, how far along are you?
