A unique conference, Reuters Global Energy Transition 2022, united CEOs and changemakers from the energy, industrial, and government ecosystems. It gathered them to shed light on the defining issue of our time, and help companies meet the difficult challenge of climate change.

The conference aimed at actionable items with cross-sector conversations among experts who might not normally be speaking with each other. PUF was there too, and talked with some of the senior executives after they left the stage at this major international event.
 

PUF's Steve Mitnick: Why are you at this conference?

Miguel d'Andrade: Because of EDP's commitment to the energy transition. EDP now is a leading global renewable energy company, really. More than half of our wind and solar is in the U.S., so we have over eight gigawatts of power in the U.S.

We're based out of Houston. We employ a thousand people in North America, and the U.S. market is one of our largest markets, which we entered in 2007 when we bought Horizon Wind Energy. We've been investing in North America for the last fifteen years, and we have a plan to double our capacity in the U.S. over the next four years or so.

PUF: Are you optimistic about growth in the U.S. and North America?
