The University of Missouri's Financial Research Institute held a two-part webinar on Optimal Transmission Planning and Development for 2022 and Beyond. Two panels discussed regional and interregional comprehensive transmission planning efforts and next steps for advancing optimal and efficient transmission development.

The concept for the virtual gatherings arose from recent events, including passage of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and recent efforts by the Joint Federal-State Task Force on Electric Transmission on resolving issues related to transmission planning and development throughout the country.

This panel examined emerging policy issues related to transmission planning and development in light of the priorities and funding put forth in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. In the discussion are California Public Service Commission's Cliff Rechtschaffen, Iowa Consumer Advocate Jennifer Easler, ITC Holdings Chief Business Unit Officer Krista Tanner, and moderated by Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission's Sarah Freeman.

Moderator and Commissioner, Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, Sarah Freeman: Let's hear your organizations' perspectives about desired outcomes for the ANOPR under consideration. Also, on the engagement that's taking place between FERC and state regulators through the joint task force, that's already met with the last two NARUC meetings.
