PUF readers love utility regulatory policy. So, a fireside chat between two regulators is not to be missed. Featured here is Chair of the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board, Peter Gurnham, a mainstay in Canadian regulation for many years. In fact, he has spent almost twenty years as Chair and announced his upcoming retirement in March 2022.

Joining him as moderator at the CAMPUT 2021 Virtual Conference Part Two, held by our regulatory friends in Canada, is a former member of the Ontario Energy Board, Paula Conboy, also former Chair of the Australian Energy Regulator, who currently sits on the boards of the PJM Interconnection and the Singapore Energy Market Authority. Imagine a crackling fireplace as you listen in on these memorable moments.
 

Chair, Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board, Peter Gurnham: There are four or five things that have changed particularly over the time period I've been Chair, but it extends to the period I represented Nova Scotia's largest utility here at the Board.

The first is technology, which may be kind of a funny one to start with, but it's worked for us in a couple of ways, for example, recently with COVID, the fact that we were technologically proficient has allowed us to conduct hearings, almost seamlessly, as we went from in-person hearings to virtual hearings.
