EEI met early June with its Road to Net Zero and took an in-depth look at the major technology and policy milestones on the pathway to decarbonization.

Disaster response often hinges on the federal government, yet state regulators and policymakers are increasingly focused on safeguarding vulnerable energy systems and creating a more resilient infrastructure to respond to large-scale, catastrophic events. Listen in to these excerpts as Commissioners describe the threats and how they are planning to respond.

Moderator and Commissioner, Arkansas Public Service Commission, Kim O'Guinn: In April 2020, under the leadership of then NARUC President Brandon Presley, the task force on emergency preparedness, recovery, and resiliency was chartered in response to extreme weather events, as well as the national emergency as it relates to COVID-19 pandemic. I was honored to be named as Chair of this task force. I am joined by Chairs of the three subcommittees of the task force.

Commissioner Presley, since you initiated this task force, start by telling us why you made this task force a priority under your leadership and discuss the federal funding opportunities and construction standards.
