PUF's Steve Mitnick: You're the Senior Director of Digital Innovation and Transformation at the nation's largest state public power organization. Talk about your job and your typical day.

Ali Mohammed: It changes day-to-day. There was a strategic prioritization at NYPA. Four departments were brought under Digital Innovation and Transformation. Prior to that, I was the director for the Digital Transformation Office, overseeing the implementation of our digital strategy. We had upward of sixty projects in 2020. There was a bit of a pause due to COVID, however, a lot of projects were still in flight.

In 2021, to align with NYPA's VISION2030 strategic plan, there was a reorganization. Now, I oversee the digital transformation office, and the digital worker program, which is expanding across the organization.

In addition, I oversee research and development and NYPA's Advanced Grid Innovation Lab Energy (AGILe), where we are building digital twins of our electric grid to enable advanced studies and analysis. I'm also the chair for the Utility Broadband Alliance (UBBA).
