CAMPUT 2021 brought Canadian regulators together with the theme Transition and Transaction.

How are regulators addressing the impacts on customers from market transition, market disruption, innovation, and social forces? This panel took a look at the important issues affecting the transitions occurring in the energy and utilities industries from the regulator and consumer advocate points of view with an in-depth look from America and Canada. Enjoy this frank and candid discussion, with excerpts from a panel that took on trending social impacts.
 

Moderator, University of Alberta Associate Professor, Andrew Leach: We're interested in the question of, how can regulators address the ongoing impact on consumers from market transition, disruption, and innovation? We're looking a little bit more at the social impacts of these changes we're seeing in our utility markets.

Chair, National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, Paul Kjellander: NARUC was described as a sister organization. We're about a hundred and thirty years old. For most of that time, utility regulation and utilities we regulated looked much the same across the country.
