Memorable Moments
Adam Lee is chief security officer at Dominion Energy. Robert Lee is the CEO of Dragos. Tony Souza is the director for cybersecurity and network defense at Duke Energy. Paul Grigaux is VP for asset management, strategy and engineering at Southern California Edison. Puesh Kumar is Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response in the U.S. Department of Energy. Kelly Bissell leads Accenture Security.
Accenture at the end of March took a look at what's next in OT security, with its Operational Tech Cybersecurity Summit appropriately called, Operation Next. Accenture led discussions with technical leaders on how OT security stakeholders are achieving buy-ins, articulating risk, maximizing budgets, and implementing programs. Held virtually, the panels and talks aimed at ensuring traditional OT security challenges don't dictate utility risk profiles. Here are some highlights.
Chief Security Officer, Dominion Energy, Adam Lee: I could speak for a long time and I know the other panelists could as well about tactical solutions for IT/OT environments and providing effective security defenses. We need to stop viewing the business segments as standalone fiefdoms, where engineers are dictating to the leadership there, what the requirements are around security within those OT environments.
Historically IT technologists in the cyber area here are building baseline security standards for the OT environment that we need to work in partnership with those folks to promulgate. But once we've promulgated them, we need to make them our enterprise standard, so we have some degree of assurance to the board, to the C-suite, that we don't have weakness in a certain area.
