Journey to 2030
Yves Edouard Noel is Senior Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development at the New York Power Authority.
With NYPA's VISION2030 to decarbonize and transform itself set forth in that ambitious plan explained by CEO Gil Quiniones in prior pages, NYPA is fortunate to have brilliant and hardworking stars. PUF talked to these humble members of the NYPA workforce, a diverse group of strategic thinkers leading the way to plan and implement VISION2030 and beyond.
PUF's Steve Mitnick: What is your role at NYPA?
Yves Noel: I'm the SVP of Strategy and Corporate Development for the New York Power Authority, a role I am honored to serve. Much of what I do is affirming and supporting New York State's energy vision, as outlined by Governor Andrew Cuomo in his yearly State of the State message and major policy pronouncements.
PUF: How do you do it?
Yves Noel: I begin this process by looking at what is happening at a particular moment in time. Guided by whatever truths I can establish; I project where we are going to be in the months and in the years ahead. These ideas require an interesting mix of art and science. You look at an organization, its history, its people, and its challenges, and start contemplating what is needed, and how do we get to the next place.
My job is academic, where I turn myself into a vortex of information. I listen to the radio and podcasts, read articles, talk to people within and outside of NYPA, and ask this fundamental question, what is going on in the industry?
