MACRUC 25 and Live!
Neil Chatterjee is chair of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Brooks McCabe is president of MACRUC and serves as a Commissioner for the West Virginia Public Service Commission.
MACRUC President and West Virginia Commissioner Brooks McCabe convened the twenty-fifth Annual Education Conference and pointed out MACRUC was the only regional organization to host a summer meeting.
FERC Chair Neil Chatterjee was the program opening general session speaker, and discussed the big topic of the day, challenges to the MACRUC region due to the coronavirus crisis. Chair Chatterjee, as always, started with his usual disclaimer that the views expressed were his own.
MACRUC President Brooks McCabe: COVID-19 is changing the world. What changes do you see on the horizon for energy policy as a result of the pandemic? What do you hope to learn from the upcoming technical conference on the subject?
FERC Chair Neil Chatterjee: We've been thinking a lot about how this pandemic may affect the regulated industry going forward as we recover from the economic devastation. We're seeing decreased demand for electricity, gas, and oil.
