A Celebration
Steve Mitnick is President of Lines Up, Inc., Editor-in-Chief of Public Utilities Fortnightly, and author of “Lines Down: How We Pay, Use, Value Grid Electricity Amid the Storm.”
On July 10, National Lineworker Appreciation Day, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, United Workers Union of America, National Electrical Contractors Association, and Edison Electric Institute saluted on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. the nearly seventy five thousand electrical lineworkers nationally.
In the morning, there were bucket trucks to tour near the U.S. Botanic Garden. In the afternoon, at the Rayburn House Office Building's Gold Room, Members of Congress Linda Sanchez (D-CA), David McKinley (R-WV), and Don Norcross (D-NJ) came by to sign a bipartisan resolution honoring lineworkers.
On hand, to take it all in, was Alexandra Revel of the PUF team. See the Facebook Album here.
